Glimpse Into Pine Cove

 

During the week, we got some pictures from the app of all the campers and, at times, some of those had Noah. They had bible study every day, stayed up late, had money to use at the store, saw no electronics during the week, played in the water (including the Blob), did some kayaking, zip lines, paint ball, theme nights, etc.

Vacation Bible School

 

Jacob got the opportunity to go to Vacation Bible School at Austin Baptist Church this week and has had a great time.  Destination Dig is the theme and it is family night tonight!

There sure were a lot of kids there for family night!

Pine Cove

 

Noah is away all week at Pine Cove....a fantastic Christian camp.  We were met by an impressive and enthusiastic group of camp counselors.

We weren't exactly sure what to expect.....

.....but it didn't take long to understand that he was going to have a good week.

We were left trying to figure where we could sign up for a family camp....

....for obvious reasons.

We quickly dropped him off after his swim test.  He's staying with three buddies from school in Wauga Wauga 3 at the Pine Cove in Columbus, Texas.

Noah is away all week at Pine Cove....a fantastic Christian camp.  We were met by an impressive and enthusiastic group of camp counselors.

We had a mess of kids to the pool for the combined birthday party this year.  The kids played in the pool, played with water guns, played street hockey, hit the diving boards and consumed a lot of pizza and cupcakes.

After almost four hours, even these guys were about wiped-out.

Jacob Turns 9

 

It was off to Wally's for Jacob's choice of dinner on his birthday.  Chicken strips, french fries, Texas toast and gravy....it doesn't get much better.

There were presents and, of course, some cake!

He and Noah then had a pool party at Westover with a bunch of friends that next weekend.

Noah's Graduation

 

It was the end of the line for elementary school for Noah this year.  On to middle school next fall but he will still be on the same campus.  Quite an impressive group of young kids!

The Pirates

 

End of the season came for the Pirates the other week in the second round of the tournament.  After a close win in the Round 1, they had to play the Reds in the second game.  The Reds only lost one game in the regular season so it wasn't going to be easy.  With great pitching and some nice hitting, the Pirates took the Reds to the bottom of the fifth and struck out the last batter.  Having seemingly upset one of the best teams, the celebration ensued.  However, the Reds decided to protest to a young umpire that the game started late and they should be allowed one final inning.  They called the boys out for one last inning.  The Reds were at the top of the order and won the game by one run when it was all finished.

Amazing how many life lessons can be learned in a simple game of baseball.  Not the way a team should end a season with coaches and umpires arguing a technicality but another lesson to learn about the world.  However, we were all happy to hear that the Dodgers took out the Reds in the finals while we left for vacation.
