Another soccer season has drawn to a close.  These kids are growing fast and you can see the changes in their development almost week to week.  We think they might miss the snacks at the end of each game the most!  However, there were trophies for everyone.

No Cooking!

We opted for dinner at church on Wednesday evening after picking up the kids from school.  We had no interest in cooking that night and a good move on our part.  Noah ate two large tacos and two pieces of cake (which he is proudly displaying) and Jacob was not far behind with his meal.  They at more than we did, ate faster than we did, and there we no negotiations.....a Win-Win!!!

Happy Birthday Lori!!! If you pay close attention to her cake, she turned 21 years old over the weekend!!! Apparently it will still be another 14 years until she can run for president!!!

Chapter Books

Noah has moved on to chapter books for his homework.  Somehow we do some combination of math, reading, spelling, and writing almost every night.  When he has time, we follow-up with he and Jacob's favorite cartoon as of late, "Wild Kratts".  Last night his question was when will we get to pet a bison.

Race Cars

We found some great little race car kits at Ikea a few months back.  This weekend was the perfect time for the kids to paint the cars and then we assembled them with a little glue.

New Form of Communication

This note was found on Noah's door on Monday afternoon.  Of course, we have been working on his writing, reading and math but did not see this coming.  He and Jacob had the day off from school and with it being a bank holiday, Mom had the day off as well.  Noah had a friend over in the morning to play that day and must have found that he needed a little extra space to himself in the afternoon after the long, hard day.  Since he is only half way through Kindergarten and we clearly understood the message, we will consider this a small victory.  For the record, he got his wish and they both had a good day home with Mom and even got some ice cream that afternoon.

Hyde Park elementary had a performance last week which included songs by all ages.  The kindergarten classes did three songs including 'Tony Chestnut'. A very amusing bunch of kids.

New Evening Ritual?

After dinner, baths, homework, etc.....Noah's favorite activity is to get out his journal and draw pictures.  A different topic each night.

Chicken Pot Pie

This may have been more than Noah bargained for but the Chicken Pot Pie was very worth it (so says Dad).  Noah, thanks for acquiring some new skills.  Your culinary prowess will come in quite handy in the future!

Dentist

Jacob did a great job on his first trip to the dentist, maybe he just liked the glasses.  Noah made a return trip as well to repair his first cavity.  With a little laughing gas, he did very well too.

Inner Space Caverns

Noah's class had a field trip last week to Inner Space Caverns where they got to learn about all types of geological formations including stalactites, stalagmites, etc.  Everyone had a great time and we see more of these trips in the future.

We knew the kids loved the chips......repeated baskets being delivered to our table.  However, they then ventured into the salsa and we weren't so sure how that would go over.  It was a hit, despite the look on Jacob's face.
