Last Saturday on the trip to Houston included a stop at the natural science museum. The kids loved the rainforest and butterfly exhibit. Ancient Egypt was not well received with all the heads, sarcophagi, etc; however, the dinosaurs were universally loved.

Columbus, TX
The rule is never to wake a sleeping Jacob; however, rules are meant to be broken and it never hurts to have unanimous consent from those not sleeping. After all their hard work in Katy, they had more than earned ice cream, real ice cream. We found a nice little place in Columbus, TX, and enjoyed Rocky Road X 2, mint chocolate chip, and some soft serve vanilla mush (perpetrator shall remain nameless).

Trip to Houston
It was a trip to Houston this weekend to lend a helping hand with some great people. We spent Sunday in Katy, TX, at Alief Baptist Church in the AM and First Baptist Church in the PM. Removing flooring, scraping floors, tearing out carpet, handling clothing donations, etc. The boys worked hard and Jacob was asleep a mere couple miles from the Church at day's end.

Fall Soccer
Jacob is back in soccer this fall and his first game was last weekend. We are beginning to think that Jacob rather enjoys getting right in the middle of pack when the kids begin to congregate in an attempt to get the ball.

Stuffed Animal Day
Noah's class has been so well behaved in the first few weeks of school that they earned a day in which they could bring their stuffed animals to school. Where is Noah? Well, he brought the biggest one he could find (the green frog in the middle).

Piano Lessons
Noah started piano lessons last week and is enjoying it so far. We happen to have an old electronic keyboard that came from Leon, his great-grandfather, that will give him some variety as he practices.

Lucy Diane Pawlik
We welcome the arrival of Lucy who was born on Friday, September 15, at 5:43 PM in Austin. She weighed in at 6 lbs and 4 oz's and was 19 inches. Mom, Dad and big brother are all doing well. Jacob's smile alone signifies his approval!

Freedom
We think Jacob has been secretly waiting for this day for a very long time. The boy has an unparalleled streak of independence running through him. We took the training wheels off the bike and it didn't take long for him to get the hang of it. One trip around the track with Dad hanging on to the bike and then Jacob took over. He did a few laps around the track and then disaster. No, he didn't crash on his bike and hurt himself, somehow he managed to get just far enough off the track in just the wrong place that he punctured his tire. That's how fleeting that freedom can be sometimes. Nevertheless, we are happy to report that after a quick trip to Walmart and one patched tube later, Jacob is back on the road to freedom.
