Back To The Pool

 

It was back to the pool on Friday and Saturday.  Jacob enjoys the water and is getting close to jumping off the side of the pool.  Noah is quickly getting to the point where he can tread water the length of the pool.  It's almost August so we will have many more opportunities to play in the water.

Jacob really enjoyed the four-wheeler, so much that he didn't want to get off in near 100 degree heat.  He looks pretty determined in this picture but he was just waiting patiently for the photos to end.

Riding

Noah's Great-Uncle Larry has been teaching him how to properly ride a horse.  Now that he has a cowboy hat, belt buckle, boots, etc....we are pretty sure he is going to pass for a full-fledged cowboy someday.

Jacob's School Birthday Cake

Each of the kids get to make their own birthday cake at school when his/her big day arrives.  

It looks like they covered all the necessary steps including mixing, stirring.....

...pouring into the pan and finally.....

.....a little quality control (taste test) before it goes into the oven.  

When you get to taste the batter for your birthday and your friend can only watch, you definitely know it must be your birthday!

Jacob can be a pretty serious little fellow on occassion.  Perhaps he just takes parades and the Fourth of July very, very  seriously.  This is a pic from the Hyde Park CDC parade that they do every year.  Even Chip Roy was on-hand to give some remarks before the parade.

We even found time for a quick family picture before the parade got started.  Memo to Noah and Jacob.....you love the parade every year and we loved being able to walk out the front door some fifty feet, plunk down our lawn chairs and enjoy the parade.

....pics all week long.  Both Noah and Jacob loved the balloons before the parade and we must have gone through six of them as they either flew away, got popped, etc, etc.  We also showed our patriotic colors on one of our favorite holidays.

An Outtake from Noah's Birthday

We were attempting to get him to hold up four fingers for his this momentous birthday occasion.  Instead, this appears to have turned into the picture of a greeting that has not been common for the better part of 70 years from somewhere deep in his ancestry.  Anyway....he still loved the blueberry pancakes!
