Painting Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs have become all-the-rage at our house lately. We have movies, books, coloring books, etc....all related to dinosaurs. Noah got to sit down the other week and paint his own dinosaurs. Pictured here in action, he really focused on getting them how he wanted them and, all the while, Jacob was up in bed sawing logs. We will get a picture of the final painted dinosaurs in a future post.

Skittles
Jacob's class did a sorting activity with skittles last week and the kids loved it. They learned their colors, counting, the letter 'S', sharing, and, most importantly, just how wonderful that much sugar packed into a small container can really be!!!

Bike Rides
For Noah, it won't be long and the training wheels should come off. As for Jacob, he has made it a habit of charming everyone in the neighborhood while out on his bike.

In Remembrance
Leon Willie Reeder
Leon Willie Reeder, 94, of La Grange, died Sunday, March 1, 2015. Leon
was born in Coupland on May 10, 1920, the son of Willie and Nellie
(Luetge) Reeder. On Sept. 29, 1941, he married his beloved wife, Bessie,
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, where they continued to
be members for the remainder of their lives. Leon entered the United
States Army Air Force in July of 1943 and served as an airplane and
engine mechanic until Feb. of 1946, when he was honorably discharged as
Cpl. Leon W. Reeder of the 328th Army Air Force Base Unit. On Dec. 24,
1946, Leon and Bessie were blessed with the arrival of their only son,
Kenneth. Leon spent several years working for Adamcik’s in La Grange and
eventually opened his own heating and air conditioning business known
as “Reeder’s Air Conditioning and Heating” in 1970. He retired from this
business in 1985. Leon was also active in the American Legion serving
as Commander and as a past president of the Texas Ten-Pin Bowling
Association. His hobbies included bowling, gardening and spending time
in various casinos with family and friends. Leon will always be
remembered as being a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and great
grandpa. He was preceded in death by his
parents, wife, Bessie, and son, Kenneth Reeder. Visitation will be held
on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 12 to 6:30 p.m. at Koenig &
Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange.

Sliver
This titanic struggle took place over a little sliver in Noah's hand. It wasn't quiet and it wasn't solved in short order. For the record, the sliver is out of his hand.

Thank You From Noah
This one came out of left field. Noah's class does some work writing in their journals every morning but we don't see them very often. After a trip to the grocery store last week one day when he was sick, Noah sat down on his own, without any prodding and created and presented this. They are learning phonics and it shows. Really great work for a four year old! If you look closely, this is what he was trying to say:
"Thank you Dad for getting me a donut"
All four family members, with donuts in-hand and arms raised on absolute sugar-infused glee. Complete with a picture of the shopping cart that he is almost getting to big for at this point.
