Happy Birthday Noah!

It is a monumental day for Noah, the age of three has finally arrived.  He has told us, his teacher, friends, and anyone else that would listen that June 30 was his birthday and that he was turning three.  The cake, party and presents are all fine but we think what is really so special about turning the age of three is that he can now officially go on the big playscape at school.  Ever since Matthew left, Noah has been the only one in class that couldn't go on the big playscape so we understand the excitement.

So what has been on the agenda for his birthday?  Well, Noah and his class made a cake at school on Friday, his birthday party (along with Jacob's birthday) was at Kiddie Acres on Saturday, and the Big Playscape awaits him tomorrow AM.  Not too shabby.

Happy Birthday Noah.....your vocabulary is growing about as fast as you are, you currently have a love of 'Scooby Dooby' cartoons, you are excited that swim lessons start in a week, you eat quite well (especially at school), you are patiently waiting for some assemblance of a playscape in the backyard, you have your melt-downs from time to time, you enjoy going to the TX and MN cabins, and you play well with your little brother!

That's Not a Yawn!

Memo to Jacob.....you just turned one year old a couple weeks back.  It was great and we looked forward to your second year.  We were actually right that one year would be a turning point for the sleeping issues; however, this was not the turn we were expecting.

Before your birthday, you were the easiest child to get to sleep at night.  Bath, pajamas, play, bottle, pacifier, and then you were out like a light.  Clockwork, you might say.  You then woke up early, normally around 5:15 AM, and sometimes went back to sleep.

After your birthday, something went horribly wrong.  Bath, pajamas, play, bottle, pacifier and then the fits ensued.  You appeared to go to sleep right away and then the yelling, screaming, and all-around wailing followed.  Separation anxiety?  Maybe, but that wasn't the only problem.  You then started getting up before the Marines at around 4:30.  Although they are trying to get your class down to only one nap a day at school, we think they are making an accomodation for you right now.

If you end up making a living in the Donut Engineering Sciences (Making the donuts), it won't surprise either of your parents.  Perhaps Platoon leader? 5:00 AM anchorman on the news? All quite possible.  For now, we will keep the wolves at bay.

Goodbye Matthew!

Noah's buddy Matthew recently headed off to a new school.  It has taken Noah a few weeks to figure out that Matthew is no longer going to be in his class.  Every once and a while he would say that he was looking forward to playing with Matthew tomorrow at school but that now appears to have faded.  He will be just fine as he will be on the big playscape at school in less than two weeks when he turns three.  Trust us, he is REALLY looking forward to it.

Happy 'Belated' Fathers Day!!!

Thank you Dad for all that you do for us...taking us for boat, lawnmower, pickup and four-wheeler rides, building treehouses, reading bedtime stories, playing pillows, making pancakes and awesome chili, building campfires, taking us swimming, doing puzzles, building block towers and train sets, taking us on ice cream outings, investing in our futures, exhibiting patience, tenderness, and kindness, and for loving us unconditionally every single day.  WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Have Your Cake And Eat It Too!!!

Jacob loved the cake that Grandma Reeder made for his first birthday.  Noah certainly liked it too given the volume of cake he has eaten in the past few days!

Eat More Chikin!

Saturday afternoon with Grandpa and Grandma included a trip to Chick Fil A.  Meanwhile, back at home, Mom and Dad began the job of re-assembling the playscape.  More to come on that.

Long Pants

Now that we are back home, we can probably put away the long pants and long sleeves for a while.

Happy Birthday Jacob!

Today, Jacob turns one year old.  Last year at this time we were up at St. Davids on Mopac preparing for the arrival.  Ironically, that day started at 4:30AM so that we could be to the hospital by 5:00 for our scheduled delivery (just so happens we still seem to get up at this very time every day).  He was little guy when born weighing in at 6 lbs 1 oz and 19 1/2 inches tall.  He wasted no time and grew so fast they didn't even hesitate to allow him to come home after our three day adventure at the hospital.

Jacob is independent, assertive, strong as an ox, knows few boundaries, needs little sleep, has a voracious appetite, and charms the pants off people everywhere he goes.  He's just now on the verge of walking and talking and has been in Ms. Micah's class for over six months.  We've seen you change dramatically over the past year and we know this coming year will be even more amazing.  Happy Birthday Big Boy....we love you!!!

Where's Jacob?

When we can't find him, one of the first places to look is under the table.  That may soon change as it appears he is about to begin taking a few steps on his own!

The Tree

No truer words than those uttered by the kind lady at the nursery, "I hope you know what you are getting into". We found out but still achieved success.

The Bear

It took a few years but Noah finally has grown taller than the bear.  Although it still takes Noah some time to warm up to the bear, he always comes around.  It's just about time for Jacob to start taking some photos with the bear.

Tour Guide

We let Noah drive the boat, as promised, just before we snapped this picture.  He already looks the part of an experienced fishing guide.  After a big pancake breakfast this morning and some work with Dad in the yard this afternoon, the little guy is off to bed listening to the rain and thunder.

New Toy

Now this vacation is getting in gear.  Noah took the opportunity to try out the swing and both loved and hated it.  He was all smiles on the swing.....laughing and giggling as he went along.  However, he wasn't much of a fan when he took a tumble or two straight onto the ground.  He got right back on the horse though so we give him credit!

Sunday in MN

We normally get started pretty early in MN whether it be to work on projects or just some morning coffee.  Jacob not only appears to have gotten the memo but he is already striving to be platoon commander on his first trip up to the North Woods.  This morning started at about 4:50 AM when he awoke.  We decided to give him another bottle as that sometimes will buy another hour of sleep.  Well, the bottle didn't last long and then the crying started.  It didn't stop for at least twenty minutes and his mother, who is always very patient, grumbled something about the wolves and Jacob, and Dad knew it was time to head out somewhere, anywhere.  Not wanting to go alone, Dad thought he would see if Grandpa was up.  Sure enough, he was already awake.....so we saddled up and that's how we made our earliest trip to McDonalds in a very long time, maybe ever.
