And before we even knew it, he made that Drumstick disappear in record time.

Bingo!
It was Mother/Son Bingo night for Hyde Park the other week. Jacob scored big in Bingo and with his winnings, he got the largest Nerf Gun that he could find (more on that later).

3M Half Marathon
It was off to the 3M Half Marathon last month on a cold morning. Your Mom, Kim and Mary Beth all ran and were happy to be finished. Then, it was off to Jim's for a big breakfast. Our kind of place, with great food that looked right out of the 1970's....perfect!

Super Bowl
It was the Super Bowl and we were all rooting for the Chiefs. We all decided on nachos and chicken wings. What did we learn? We will need a larger pan or two to three pans next year for nachos.

The other weekend was baseball tryouts. Jacob....you had to try to hit 5 pitches, catch some pop-ups, throw to base and then throw three pitches.
This was fun to watch and you threw pretty hard for your pitches and fielded well. It's been a long layoff since last season but you swung and missed on your first two pitches, fouled off your next two pitches, and on the fifth pitch, you knocked it halfway into the outfield. From afar, Dad looked over in the direction of the coaches and there a few big grins and more than a few heads that turned on that hit.

Football
We are midway through the first season of flag football for Jacob. He's been enjoying learning the game and playing with a couple friends. His highlight last week was a touchdown pass to his buddy Wyatt on a nicely thrown ball. Those two followed it up on the extra point play with another complete pass which fell just short of the end zone.

Deer
The evening of January first was supposed to be relaxing. Go to the blind, catch up on college football for the day, do some reading, etc, etc. This was the routine in days prior. As Grandma Carolyn was headed to a blind and Larry was going to take Jacob to the other blind, Dad set out for some quiet time at Terry/Marilyn's property. Within 5-10 minutes of getting situated, this guy came wandering by on the last day to hunt a buck. Since Dad left early, no one else had gone to the blinds yet so they came over to help. Jacob was impressed but his first question was, "Do we still get to go hunting"? We got him loaded and unloaded on a few different vehicles and Jacob still got to go hunting that evening!
