Ice Cream

Noah loves his ice cream cone.  WARNING! Don't come between him and the cone or he is apt to lick your hand repeatedly.

OK, Guys.....

....get used to it.  You are going to be seeing a lot more of each other in the future and probably posing for these pictures.  So far, they have both done exceedingly well with their time together.

Happy Birthday Greg!

It was the second half of the double-header of birthday parties on Saturday as Greg turned two.  Greg is a a buddy of Noah at Hyde Park CDC.

It was held at the Little Gym in South Austin.  Noah had fun running, tumbling, playing with the balls, the bubble machine and, of course, the second dose of birthday cake for the day.  He slept quite well Saturday night.

Happy Birthday Lila!

It was the first birthday party of the day on Saturday for his good friend Lila from Hyde Park CDC.  A great party complete with food, fun, and friends.  Mom even took the opportunity to attend with Dad and Noah.  Everyone was quite amazed at her speedy recovery from the hospital.  Noah must have known a second birthday party was scheduled for later that afternoon as he took a colossal near-three hour nap that afternoon. 

Dinner

Noah wasn't eating his dinner all week long.  It could have been about one of ten-thousand different things that affected his appetite.  Instead of dwelling on which of those ten-thousand factors it could have been, we made french toast.  That fixes his appetite every time.

Time to Go Home

At about Noon on Sunday, June 17, after all the forms were signed and bags were packed, we were turned loose to return back into the real world.   The nurses were excellent, the refridgerator was always stocked, and life was easy.  This was as close to a three night, four day vacation as we will get for quite sometime. After Noah packed up his Doctor's kit, we headed for the exits.    

Jacob fit quite snug into his car seat after some adjustments to the smallest strap setting we could find. There will be plenty of room for expansion as the little guy grows. 

Big Brother

We got to school yesterday morning and found this nice sign they had made for Noah. He has done really well as a big brother so far. Not sure what happened as he posed for the picture though.

Family Picture

First chance to take a family picture of all four of us together came just before leaving the hospital.  This had all the makings of a good Father's Day.

Doctor Kit

Before leaving the hospital, Noah got a present from Jacob.  Needless to say, he absolutely loved it.  The stethoscope may be his favorite component.  He also enjoyed checking everyones ears at the hospital.  You can't see it here but he is proudly wearing his 'Big Bro' shirt.

The Little Guy

Guess we will soon be finding a new blog for both the boys.  Jacob slept most of his first two days in the hospital but woke up for a photo shoot on day three.  He is beginning to fill out a bit more and becoming more alert of his surroundings by the minute.  It is just about time for him to make the trip to his new home.  Stay tuned for the big event.

Welcome Jacob Albert Helmers!!!

Jacob was born at 7:30 AM on June 14, 2012.  He came into the world tipping the scales at 6 lbs 1 oz at 19 1/2 inches.  Mommy and Jacob did extremely well throughout the process and are both recovering well.  Noah has learned to say 'Jacob' and is enjoying time with his little brother. A quiet little fellow for the first day, Jacob has been sleeping and eating, a well behaved little guy. The nurses have been fawning over Jacob (and Noah) all day long.  Everyone is in good hands with this staff and a lot of hands at that.  Jacob also passed his hearing test yesterday in record time!

Noah was a big help helping Daddy landscape the front yard this past weekend!

Barnes and Noble visit



During Sunday's visit to the children's section at Barnes and Noble, we misplaced his water cup.  After looking around the bookstore for 15 minutes we decided to ask Noah where he set it down.  He thought about it for 10 seconds and led us right to the spot...though a maze of 4 rt bookshelves to an isolated corner we had not considered looking.    What an amazing memory...he never ceases to amaze us!



Noah and Mommy at the Drs office



Noah loves visiting the huge goldfish in the complex of his Dr office  following his visits...and he took a few minutes to tell his new baby brother about the experience.  Thanks to Grandma Reeder for taking the pictures! 



He's all smiles after his visit with Dr Jones. He's often heard saying "Dr Jones check Ears, check mouth and check heart go thump thump with 'stetscope' "
