Jacob's First Road Trip

We interrupt your regulary scheduled programming for a visit to the Mighty Stuber blog.  Here you will find a great summary of our weekend trip to Houston to visit Susan, Patric & family.  Even though we packed what seemed like the entire house into the car for a two night trip, we somehow managed to forget the camera.

Enjoy!

A Happy Boy

It was Saturday afternoon and the mercury was approaching 100 degrees when we decided to go hit the splash pad.  Grandpa and Grandma Helmers were in town and they too wanted to see what these are all about.

As usual, Noah was all smiles and everyone had a great time.

Weekend Visit

Grandpa and Grandma Helmers made the trek all the way from Osage, Minnesota, to see Jacob (and, of course, Noah).  The guys got to spend some time having a round of coffee and chocolate milk.

Meanwhile, Grandma was quite content to spend some quality time with Jacob.  He was on his best behavior (except in the sleeping department).

Fun with Levi

Noah got the opportunity to spend to time with his buddy Levi a week or so back.  Little does Noah know, he still has one birthday present just waiting to be opened and it just so happens to be a bike like this one.  Needless to say, stay tuned....this blog might get interesting in a hurry.

Big Boy

Well, the little guy started off at only 6 lbs and 1 oz back on June 14 but tipped the scales at the doctor's office on Friday, July 20, at 10 lbs and 2 oz.  By any measure, this kid can eat.  If we didn't know better, we might think this was a picture of Noah at two weeks old.  Go Jacob!!!

The Tiger

This is Noah doing his best impression of a tiger.  He can let out a terrifying growl at about 120 decibels.

Splash Pad

The latest in free entertainment on hot summer days happens to be at the splash pads in Austin, TX.  They are almost as popular as the swimming pools for the young kids.  Noah made a trip to the doctor this week so Mom took the opportunity to take Noah to cool off.

This is Noah, incognito.  He looks a little bit like Dumb Donald from Fat Albert fame with the low riding hat but, nevertheless, Smart Noah is ready for all that summer has to offer.

Tool Set

Of all the presents Noah received for his birthday, it appears that he took a special liking to his new tool set.  It came complete with a cordless drill, hammer, and tool box.  He quickly learned how to use the drill on the screws and has become surprisingly proficient with the hammer.  Maybe he has been watching some of the activity around the house a little more closely than we previously thought.

The Birthday Party

Noah had quite a party for his second birthday.  There were a lot of family, food, fun, and presents.  Although Noah may have been a little intimidated seeing all those candles, he did a great job at blowing virtually all of them out.

To top it off....there were cupcakes in addition to the cake!

Noah got his exercise opening all the presents and even got a little help along the way from 2nd Cousin Clara.  Thank you to Grandpa and Grandma Reeder for hosting the party.

Water Day!

Noah's favorite school day of the week is Friday.  They have Water Day each Friday in the summer and the kids can splash and soak each other all they want for a couple hours.  Noah is modeling the latest in summer fashion here, complete with his 'Batman' packpack and flip-flops (not pictured).

Happy Fourth of July!!!

The parade was just about to start when we got this picture of Noah, Mom and Jacob.  Having a front row seat at the parade makes this the perfect event every year.

The Fire Department and Police were both on the scene complete with the fire truck and police cruisers.  Noah got this picture with Austin's finest which was perfect timing as he has been learning about these two groups at school in the past two weeks.

After the Pledge of Allegiance, Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful, the Anderson High Marching Band led the parade down to Doss Elementary School where they had ice cream and water melon.

Dad seemed to be a bit preoccupied with the classic Mustang and the other vintage cars at the end of the parade.

The Patriot

This week the Hyde Park CDC had a parade for all the kids and Noah got the opportunity to lead his class.

He looks good in the flag if we do say so ourselves.  With the annual parade in our neighborhood coming right down Far West street on July 4th, Noah and Jacob will both get the chance to see it up close.

The Two Week Visit

Jacob made a trip to see Dr. Jones on Friday for his two week visit.  The general concern was potential loss of weight after leaving the hospital.  After being born at just 6 lbs 1 oz, he was already a small guy.  They took his measurements first and he was 20 inches long so he's grown since birth.  The trip to the scale provided something unexpected, Jacob had grown all the way to 7 lbs and 6 oz.  Noah better look out, he suddenly has competition.  Everything else was very good with him and he got his second and final screening done (see the bandage on his left foot).

Happy Birthday Noah!

Noah turned two years old on Saturday. He is happy to tell you that he is two and is still working on holding up two fingers.  Although his birthday party is not until next weekend, he enjoyed cake, opened some presents and played out in the water.  All the makings of a good birthday.
