Whoever created this game was a genius.....we are not sure how a game can be so seemingly simple yet highly strategic at the same time.  This picture is an example of the win when no one saw it coming with just very few pieces even having been played.

Guys, We Can Do This

It was time for new brakes on the Hyundai so we decided on a little self-reliance this time.  Noah has been learning about labor costs and profit at school as of late so this seemed like an opportune time for a lesson.  We discussed the $300 of labor costs that we saved for 1/2 hour of work and how we might use that money....for some reason it all boiled down to the fact that we could buy a lot of cotton candy.  Nevertheless......the message was received.

Spring Break - Hawthorne, CA

It was back down to Los Angeles on our last day of vacation and the boys were happy to find an indoor swimming pool instead of the cold Pacific Ocean or the Polar Plunge in Monterey.

It was back down to Los Angeles on our last day of vacation and the boys were happy to find an indoor swimming pool instead of the cold Pacific Ocean or the Polar Plunge in Monterey.  

Spring Break - Felton, CA - Roaring Camp Railroad

It was off to the mountains of Felton and the Roaring Camp Railroad with another perfect day of weather for a trip through the redwood trees.....

......we found an even larger bear by which to measure Noah.....

....we loaded up for our trip.....

.....and on our way back a wheel hopped off the track.  Either wait 45 minutes or take a 30 minute walk back.  We were excited to take the walk back and Lori deemed this our 'Stand By Me' moment...

.....we found a nice redwood tree and the boys were amazed......

....and we saw the rescue train on the way back.  They gave us our money back when we got back to the station even though we enjoyed our walk.  We decided next trip to do this again and take their other train which goes a little further and runs through Santa Cruz and the Beach Boardwalk!!!

We ventured further North to Santa Cruz to see the Beach Boardwalk but the rides weren't open for the season yet....

....so we took in the sites.....

.....decided that on our next trip, a surfing lesson might be on the docket.... 

....and enjoyed the views before heading to the railroad.

Spring Break - Aptos, CA

We headed even further North and stopped in Aptos.....

....a relatively cold day and these were the only two boys in the ocean....

.....one would have thought is was a wonderful summer day....

.....and the ship was worse shape than remembered.
