Some 40 years later........

.....the Six Million Dollar Man dolls are still a hit.

LEGOLAND Discovery - Atlanta

Needless to say, the kids had a great time at Legoland discovery on the trip to GA & NC.  They had a few small rides, tables to play at, cars to build, a movie and this......

.....someone decided to build the entire downtown Atlanta city center in their spare time!

Donuts With Dad

Donuts With Dad is a tradition at the HP CDC.  They do a great job on Mother's Day and Father's Day.  This was our last celebration at the CDC before Jacob heads off to Kindergarten.  Jacob identified his donut almost immediately and had no second thoughts.  He answered a number of questions about his father and Dad's favorite was that he was 20 years old...they both agreed and will leave it at that.

Happy Birthday Jacob!

Your birthday started with a pajama party at school for making so many good choices the last few weeks, donuts with your class, and cupcakes (yes, plural) after dinner.  That's a pretty good birthday and one that you were quite proud of today.  Happy birthday to our quiet, yet loud, mischievous and caring, little five year old boy.  We love you.

Lauren's Graduation

A very nice trip to Charlotte for Lauren's graduation.

We found more than a little time for the pool too!

Buckets At The Pool

Jacob's favorite thing to do at the outside pool aside from the slide.  He can be very patient from time to time.

And then, the payoff.

Family Camp Ends

Bunk beds.....Jacob took the top bunk after calling it almost immediately.

Kona Ice on a warm afternoon is almost ideal.

We didn't make it for much more than 10 miles and Jacob was sound asleep.

Water Balloons

Saturday at family camp saw a water balloon fight. Kids and parents alike enjoyed a break from the heat.

Tug Of War

Before everyone headed for the fire pit to make smores, Tug Of War came into play.  In this shot, the Moms battled the kids.....Moms prevailed.  There was also the kids vs five dads but no moms vs dads (perhaps a good call).  Had the Moms battled the kids after smores, the outcome may have been different!

Family Camp 2017

A little over a week ago was family camp for HPBC.  It was off to the Highland Lakes once again for the better part of the weekend.  The weather was very nice for late June but we did have a few big storms roll through during our time there.  Everyone had a great time and we will have pictures all week long.

Where is Daddy?

The street name of Corona Drive is well known to the boys.  They have enjoyed stopping by, seeing what is new and finding different hiding places throughout the house.  With this house out of the way, we will again restore some level of normality.

Jacob's Graduation

Jacob graduated from the Hyde Park CDC last Friday.  Complete with a full ceremony, Jacob got his certificate of graduation and walked the stage.  Perhaps his favorite part of graduation was the cake at the reception!  He continues on until early August in Pre-K with his move to Kindergarten just around the corner.

The Raft

One of the kids favorite memories from the trip to MN last year was rescuing a raft that had come unattached to a dock up the lake.  We got it home and somehow also got it out of the lake.  We weren't sure it would ever make it back in the water but Grandpa and Uncle Curt have made it sea-worthy.  We will look forward to seeing it later this summer.

Batting Practice

Last weekend was the perfect time for some batting practice out at the Quarries.  We got Jacob to join in and take his first  batting practice as well.

Amazing Grace Race

Hyde Park K-3rd grade put on a performance of the 'Amazing Grace Race' last week.  3rd Graders took the lead and the younger kids supported.  All-in-all they must have done 10-12 songs and did a great job.

Grandma Reeder's Creek

When it begins getting hot outside, one of their favorite places to play is in Grandma Reeder's creek!

End of Season

Noah really enjoyed his first season of baseball.  Good instructional group at I9 and, perhaps for the first time, Noah wasn't the youngest player on a team.  Next spring will be little league which has apparently changed dramatically through the years so we will look forward to that.  Jacob helped out throughout the season when other kids were gone so he was quite please to get a trophy too.

The Balcony

It's a treat to sit in the balcony at church.  When they get to see Joshua and Matthew, that's a double treat for the day.

Construction Workers

They came home the other day and announced they were going to be construction workers when they grow up.  After claiming the upstairs as their own and posting 'Keep Out' signs on the doors, some brief quiet time was had on the first floor.

Cub Scouts

Noah has officially moved on from a Tiger to a Wolf.  A very good year and always participating. That's him with in the hat!

Pre-K Graduation

Pre-K graduation is just around the corner and we were asked for a baby picture for Jacob.  One of our favorites.

Trampoline Safety

Easter eggs and Easter basket on the trampoline, check.  Zipping the door closed, not checked.  This  seemingly minor detail became a bit more magnified after Noah flew right right through that little opening and off the trampoline not long after we got it.  On the other hand, we do have a net.  Carry on Jacob!

Red Ryder

After a quick lecture on the 2nd Amendment and another run through our lessons on safety, it was time to give our Red Ryder replica a workout.  Last weekend was perfect weather for a little BB gun fun.

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

While making cornbread the other week, Jacob did not like the sound of the mixer.  Didn't take him long to remedy that.  Smart first apparently.

Jacob's Easter Party

Jacob's class had an Easter party as well, complete with an egg hunt and a lot of cute kids.

Thursday, April 20, 2017

Noah's Easter Party

They do a great job celebrating Easter at Hyde Park.  Noah had a party with all the other first graders, complete with an egg hunt, snacks, and, oh yeah, early dismissal.

Monday, April 17, 2017

Quarries Easter Egg Hunt

It was off to the Quarries campus on Saturday for Easter festivities including games, bouncy houses, lots of candy and an Easter egg hunt.

Then we had a picnic down by the water with friends which was a good way to end the day.

Three Goals!

Memo to Jacob.....You had a really fun game last week and scored three goals.  That little fact takes a back seat to the fact that there are snacks after the game, and you shared with Noah!

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

Memo to Noah.....Your coach called you "Slugger" last week.  He joked that he may have to throw you a fastball to see if you could hit it.  When we left the fields last week, you asked us why he called you "Slugger".  You were quite pleased with the answer.

Me Too!

Jacob is now enjoying throwing the ball.  Perhaps next spring Jacob will begin in baseball but he has quite an arm on him already. Once again, there's that tongue!

In-N-Out Burger

With four days of achievement testing out of the way for Noah, it was off to In-N-Out Burger.  They have no kids meals so it was big people meals for them which they wiped out completely.  They then moved on to a milkshake and proclaimed this to be their favorite burger.  Next time we get a burger at P. Terry's, we'll see if they make the same proclamation.

Goofball #1

Noah is goofball #1 this week, hamming it up for a picture while out at dinner with Grandma Reeder.  We will check in on goofball #2 tomorrow.

More Baseball

Soccer was rained out on Sunday afternoon but Noah got his baseball game in on Saturday morning.  Another fun week.  Both are enjoying their new sports.

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Last weekend saw Noah's first taste of organized baseball with other kids 5-6 years old.  The kids spent 45 minutes practicing the fundamentals and then had a game after that.  Noah had a great time and commented that this was better than he could have imagined.  It won't always be that way but we will try and keep him in that frame of mind each week.

They have become a weekly ritual right up there with Friday night popcorn.
